Paws The Alarm! These Sleepy Doggos Aren't Ready To Face The Day

Some mornings, getting out of bed feels like the hardest thing in the world. Your alarm goes off, the room is cold, and you've somehow managed to find the most comfortable position of your entire life just five minutes before you're supposed to get up. Unfortunately, most of us have jobs and responsibilities that don't care how cozy our blankets are.

Dogs, on the other hand, have a little more freedom when it comes to their morning schedules.

We're used to seeing dogs bouncing around the house at the crack of dawn, begging for breakfast or practically dragging their humans out the door for a walk. But plenty of pups are perfectly happy to sleep the morning away. Some won't even lift their heads when you call their names, and others look downright offended that you've interrupted their rest.

It's especially funny when you remember that dogs don't actually have much to recover from. Sure, chasing squirrels and barking at the mailman can be tiring, but most of their days are spent lounging around the house anyway. Apparently, all that relaxing requires a good night's sleep, followed by a long morning nap and maybe another snooze after lunch.

And once a dog discovers the comfort of a human bed, good luck getting that space back. They start out sleeping politely at the foot of the mattress, but before long, they're stretched across the pillows with their paws in your face. Somehow, an animal half your size can take up twice as much room, and you're the one left hanging off the edge.

Some dogs are so attached to their beds that even the promise of a walk isn't enough to get them moving. They'll open one eye, consider the offer, and go straight back to sleep. You might have better luck shaking a bag of treats, although even that isn't guaranteed to work on a particularly lazy morning.

We do have to appreciate how comfortable these pups have made themselves. Their humans are rushing around getting ready for work, packing lunches, and trying to make it out the door on time, while the dogs are busy deciding whether to roll over onto their other side. And somehow, they're still the ones who look exhausted.

These sleepy doggos have figured out exactly how they want to spend their mornings, and getting out of bed isn't part of the plan. After seeing how cozy they look, we can't say we blame them.

  • Why sleep in your own dog bed when you can take over the hooman's instead? The mattress is bigger, the pillows are softer, and there's plenty of room to stretch out. Well, plenty of room for the dog, anyway. The hoomans can squeeze into whatever space is left over. After all, they're the ones who bought the bed, so they should've known what they were getting into!
